Moke Lake Overview

Moke Lake is located just 20-minute drive from Queenstown with the last 6kms along a gravel road. This stunning lake is framed by mountains and on a still day has amazing mirror reflections, making it a popular camping, walking and biking area. The Moke Lake Loop track is a local’s favourite, it is a 6.1 km, approximately 2-hour loop hike that goes right around the lake, through grasslands and surrounded by mountains.

In the warmer months, the lake is perfect for picnics, swimming and paddle boarding or kayaking.

Experience Overview

Your BLACK Moke Lake Experience starts with being picked up by your guide from your accommodation in a luxury SUV or Mercedes Sprinter van, with a short drive out to the beautiful Moke Lake. Spend some time relaxing by the lake with a delicious morning tea, then choose to walk a portion of the Moke Lake Loop or walk the full loop track with your local guide.

The walk offers many spectacular scenic photo spots with idyllic views of the lake. The trail winds around the lake and at the top end takes you through lowland wetland areas protected by boardwalks, often providing the opportunity to see a myriad of native wetland birds.

After your walk see the lake from a different perspective, enjoying a private paddle boarding or kayaking experience, offering the opportunity to explore this peaceful lake and take in the surrounding alpine scenery.
